Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Visits Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Ltd., Highlights Noiler’s Role in Food Security

Our sister company, Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Ltd., had the honor of hosting the Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, at its farm in Awe, Oyo State, on February 2, 2025. During the visit, the Minister toured the breeder farms and hatcheries, gaining firsthand insight into Amo Farm’s large-scale poultry operations. He commended the company’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s food security, particularly through the Noiler chicken breed—a dual-purpose bird for both meat and eggs.

Recognizing the Noiler’s potential to improve protein availability and affordability nationwide, the Minister emphasized the need to scale production through village-based cooperatives and farmer-supplier outgrower models. He also shared his personal experience of purchasing Amo Farm’s day-old chicks for his own farm, expressing enthusiasm for future collaboration:

“For us in the ministry, these are the types of partners we want to identify and work with.”

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ayoola Oduntan, Group Managing Director, underscored the significance of the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development in securing Nigeria’s food future. He highlighted the essential role of the private sector in driving innovation and growth in the livestock industry and reaffirmed Amo Farm’s commitment to working with the Ministry to scale these efforts.

Also present at the visit were Dr. Anand Burra, Managing Director of Amo Farm, Mr. Idris Ajimobi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development, and Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar, National Coordinator of L-PRES, alongside other dignitaries.

This visit marks a key milestone in Amo Farm’s mission to advance food security, empower rural communities, and strengthen Nigeria’s food system. With the production of one million day-old chicks weekly and the continued development of the Noiler breed, Amo Farm remains committed to meeting the growing demand for sustainable animal protein. Additionally, through its subsidiary, natnudO Foods, the company continues to provide high-quality animal protein products, reinforcing its dedication to food security and nutrition.

Amo Farm looks forward to further collaborations that will drive Nigeria’s food security agenda forward.
